Men’s Breakfast Fellowship: Men’s Breakfast is this coming Saturday — if you aren’t on the Men’s breakfast reminder email list, please let me know!  Ralph is taking reservations through this Thursday for the 8am breakfast at the Wyatt House, on the corner of Wyatt and Madison here in the island.  Cost is $8 per person.  Ralph may be reached at ralphwe@juno.net or 206.842.1732.

United Methodist Women – (UMW): Our United Methodist Women support church Mission projects and Missionaries worldwide.  Carol Payne and Mary Schroff would like to remind everyone of the UMW meeting here at the church in the social hall, this Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 1:00. They will be having a fabulous salad lunch instead of stone soup this month and Bemah will be making a special dessert.  The UMW meets every second Tuesday of the month from September through June. Johnnie Horner shared that the devotion will be given by Sarah Hamilton this month.  And the program for this meeting will be a DVD titled, “Forgiveness and Reconciliation.”

Circle of LIGHT Women’s Fellowship: Living In Great Hope Together, women of Seabold church meet Sunday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 to focus on reconnecting spiritually, learning and enjoying fellowship. This group is for women of all ages managing life’s constant demands.  Childcare available.

United Methodist Youth Fellowship: The Youth Group — Grades 6 through 12 — meets Sundays from 6:00 to 7:30.  Our youth group has group meetings with great discussions about faith and teen issues, to day trips, mission projects and youth retreats.  We offer our youth an opportunity to grow spiritually and learn about the love of God and how it relates to them. With unconditional love and guidance, the youth learn to develop a positive direction in life.  Youth Group is a safe place to dissect the issues every teenager faces while they develop friendships that bring the group closer together and learn about living a life of faith.

Our Mission

Outreach Both Locally and Worldwide . . .

Sandwich Sunday is the 3rd Sunday of every month. For over 29 years, we have taken sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs, and fruit to be delivered to the Adult Service Center in Seattle. We have a 200 sandwich goal and every Sunday we aim to  Stuff A Car with Sandwiches.

Super Supper is the last week of each month, hosted at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church in Winslow. Seabold UMC helps provide the meal on Monday. Other Island churches share in this outreach, working together to provide dinners for people who are short of food and money at months’ end.

Bainbridge Island Ometepe Sister Island Association working with the Catholic Church in Balgue, Ometepe, Nicaragua, has developed a sister church relationship.  We remember them with our prayers and gifts.  In addition, we support annual projects for youth and adults in Ometepe, including partial sponsorship of a college student.

CROP Walk – A Church World Service  project organized by members of Seabold UMC and the Bainbridge Island/North Kitsap Interfaith Council.  CROP Walk funds help relieve hunger with projects worldwide including 25% of funds returned locally to Helpline House  on Bainbridge and Fishline in Poulsbo.  In 2009 we raised nearly $63,000 and ranked 22nd nationally in funds raised!

Mission Outreach includes education and participation of our congregation in United Methodist missions around the world.  It also facilitates local mission outreach in the Puget Sound area. We work also with the Interfaith Council to inform people about areas of social concern, locally and abroad.

Christian Education in Action

Sunday School meets every Sunday morning at 10:30 am.  There are classes for all ages, preschool through youth with adult classes from September through June.  We encourage all members of our congregation to continually grow in Christian knowledge and faith.

Children’s Sunday School is offered during the 10:30 am service. The children are divided into two groups — age 4 through 1st grade and 2nd through 5th grade. The classes are Bible-centered, with plenty of fun activities for kids of all ages.  (Classes commence immediately following Children’s Moment in each worship service.)

United Methodist Youth Fellowship (6th grade through 12th Grades) join our Education and Youth Director for Sunday School during the 10:30 service. They study the Bible and discuss relevant topics, often with activities planned during that time. Youth participate in several outings throughout the year. The group also helps to coordinate a variety of church events.

Adult Sunday School is an adult topical discussion group that meets during the 10:30 am service.

Vacation Bible School: Each summer a new project and curriculum bring together Seabold UMC family and friends of all ages for fellowship and learning. We have classes for kids and adults. This summer, our VBS is planned for August 8 to 12, 2011, 5:30 to 7:30 each evening.

Camp in our own backyard …  Beautiful Camp Indianola… An 85-acre United Methodist Church Camp with buildings to accommodate both large and small groups. They have an awesome dining hall that serves fabulous food and an outdoor chapel that overlooks beautiful Puget Sound.  Camps include organized camping experiences for all ages in the summer and specialty camps like kayak and family camps. There are also special retreats in the off season. Please call Pete Simpson, Camp Director at (360) 297-2223 for more information and a tour of the camp.

There are three other great camps in the PNW conference: Lazy F, Ocean Park and Twinlow.  2011 camp dates for all of the PNW conference camps are on the board in the narthex and information is available online at:    http://www.pnwumc.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=59&Itemid=56 .
